Learning table manners helps in a long way. Firstly the child will get up to help the parents and relatives which shows independent thinking and individuality which helps a child to make decisions on their own without depending on anybody else, However every large step needs to be taken with a small step.

-Turn off all devices – Let’s start with putting all electronic devices switched off or on silent mode so that everyone is not glued to the screen and interested in talking with each other.

-Help set the table – Setting the table is not just a mother’s job or a parent’s job. It can be done by anyone and it isn’t very difficult since we will have to listen to someone who knows how to do it.

-Chew with the mouth closed – Some people are unaware that chewing with your mouth is not just rude, but also bad to look at.

-Stay at the table until excused – Even if you have finished your meal, it is impolite to move away from the chair and one should stay at the table until you have been excused by an elder. This is to show your respect to the elders at the table.

-Don’t talk with food in your mouth – Nobody would like to see crushed and bitten food in a mouth, so it’s best advised to finish the food and then talk or cover your mouth with your palm as you talk.

-Politely ask for items to be passed instead of reaching – When dining with others, it’s essential to be mindful of your body language and table manners. Instead of reaching for items that are not within your grasp, politely ask the person who prepared the meal or the person sitting next to you to pass the item to you. This shows respect for the other person and helps maintain a positive and respectful atmosphere at the table.

-Take small bites, and don’t rush – Taking small bites and savoring your food is an essential part of good table manners. When you take small bites, you can fully appreciate the flavors and textures of the food, and you’re less likely to choke or make a mess. – Thank the person who prepared the meal-Expressing gratitude to the person who prepared the meal is a thoughtful and polite gesture that shows you appreciate their efforts. Whether it’s a family member, a friend, or a professional chef, taking the time to thank them can make a big difference in their day.

-Keep your elbows off the table: When dining with others, it’s essential to maintain good posture and keep your elbows off the table. This is a fundamental rule of table manners that shows respect for the other people at the table and helps create a positive and respectful atmosphere.
